Faculty, staff and students are working together to bring Stanford to the forefront of sustainable education and practice.

Sustainability Working Group

Stanford's Sustainability Working Group, organized in 2006, is advisory to the President and Provost, and is charged with the preparation of policy and program recommendations designed to:

  • Further learning, knowledge, and community service in the context of sustainability,
  • Encourage faculty, staff, and students to be active examples of good stewards, and provide their expertise to the university, and
  • Continuously improve Stanford's leadership and practice of sustainability.

The group includes representatives from Land & Buildings, Facilities Operations, Environmental Health and Safety, Residential and Dining Enterprises, Budget and Auxiliaries Management, the Woods Institute for the Environment, Stanford Hospitals, the Haas Center, Stanford Law School, the Graduate School of Business, School of Medicine, School of Engineering, Associated Students of Stanford University (ASSU), ASSU Graduate Student Council, Public Affairs/Government and Community Relations, Stanford Alumni, Development Office, Legal Office, University Architect/Campus Design, Athletic Department, University Communications, Procurement, Information Technology and the university's Sustainability Program Manager.
